Q:What is 『SPF』 ?
A:
Sun protection factor (SPF) tells how long you may stay in the sun without burning from UVB light. For instance, a fair-skinned person normally would turn red after 10 minutes in the sun. If the person uses a sunscreen with SPF 15, it multiplies the initial burning time by 15 (SPF 15 x 10 minutes = 150 minutes), so it takes 150 minutes, or 2 and half hours, for that person's skin to turn red.
Q:What does 『PA』 mean ?
A:
PA stands for protection grade of UVA system and is the Japanese measurement of sun protection, which claimed by Japan Cosmetic Industry Association. There are three grades of protection: PA+, PA++ and PA+++. A sunscreen with PA+++ will provide you the greatest protection.
Q:Higher SPF and PA mean better protection ?
A:
The main function of the SPF is blocking the UVB, while PA is protecting the UVA. Dermatologists indicate a sunscreen with SPF of 15 and PA++ will suffice for most individuals. However, higher SPF doesn't mean the sunscreen is more effective than the lower ones. In fact, higher strengths may cause increased irritation among some sensitive people.
Q:What is 『Physical sunscreens (chemical-free sunscreens)』 ?
A:
Moderate and has a little “whitening” effect. They reflect UVA and UVB and are far less liable to cause skin irritation than chemical sunscreens.
Q:What is 『Chemical sunscreens (Physical-free sunscreens)』 ?
A:
Lightweight and less greasy. They absorb UV rays and transform them into heat, so they may irritate sensitive skin.

There are two types of sunscreen lotion: face and body lotions. They are physical sunscreens, ranging from SPF20~SPF50,PA++~PA+++ .They contain titanium dioxide and are physical barriers against broad-spectrum UVA and UVB rays. This type of sunscreen is usually thicker and less greasy. Those with sensitive skins may prefer it.
Cream:
There are two types, water-based sunscreens and high-performance sunscreens. SPF12~SPF50,PA++~PA+++. Water-based sunscreen leaves skin moisturized, and prevents sun burn under sun exposure. High-performance Sunscreen with SPF50 and PA+++ is ideal for outdoor sports that require prolonged sun exposure.
